Need To Know
COVID-19 Travel Guidelines
As of May 1, 2021, travelers no longer need to provide a negative COVID-19 test upon arrival. Instead, airports and other ports of entry will perform a quick test to randomly selected passengers and all those who present symptoms upon arrival. In addition, travelers need to know that a mandatory curfew is set, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. For additional changes in the guidelines, keep a close eye on the government’s website before departing.
Getting Around (Transportation)
The most convenient modes of transport through Santo Domingo are shuttle flights, taxis, rental cars, públicos (multi-passenger taxis), and public buses. If you are looking for the cheapest way to move around the city, your best option is the shared taxis. However, the cab service is quite expensive, and it is not advisable to get around this way every day.
The safety measurements we recommend are: to avoid wandering into unknown and isolated areas, keep tabs on your documents and when in crowded places, avoid showing off jewelry. Should you require, there is tourist police called politur, scattered throughout the city to help and are more reliable than the private police department. In addition, round-the-clock security is provided at every resort to make sure all the guests feel safe.
